Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS)

I don’t know who the fuck came up with the jump physics for this game, but being that it’s from Nintendo why the hell can’t it be like Mario where I hold A to bounce off an enemy?  Why do I need to hit A when bouncing off every single enemy? Also, I can’t stand it when people (or games) are condescending. I’m not a fucking charity case. If I die a whole bunch in your game then I don’t need you to step up with the “hey let me do that for you since you seem to suck at it” bullshit.  And maybe if you decide to put such bullshit in your game then your game just might be too fucking hard. This game does a great job of making you feel incompetent. And where are all the animal companions besides the rhino? Highly debating never playing another Donkey Kong Country game again after finishing this one.

PS_VR

Theseus (PSVR)

Interesting take on the Greek legend of Theseus and the Minotaur (time loops, minotaur grows stronger every time Theseus dies, finding Theseus’ dead bodies all over the labyrinth).  Irritating stealth sections.  Ariadne’s voice is neat but sounds like Simlish in a way. Pre-rendered set pieces like old PS1 era games (re: the first Resident Evil, Parasite Eve, etc) but not as intricate/detailed as Moss.  Neat/creepy how Theseus will look you in the eye if you get him close enough to you.

  • 1st session:  1 hour, 15 minutes +4 trophies
  • Status:  carried over to February.

Switch

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu  (Nintendo Switch)

  • 1st session:  16 minutes
  • 2nd session:  42 minutes
  • 3rd session:  2 hours
  • Status:  carried over to February.  Not as entertaining as I thought it was going to be.  Not a fan of the Go method for fighting/catching wild Pokémon.

PS4

Spyro the Dragon (Reignited Trilogy) (PS4)

  • 1st session:  6 hours, 40 minutes +17 trophies
  • 2nd session:  4 hours, 42 minutes +14 trophies
  • 3rd session:  1 hour, 40 minutes +5 trophies including platinum (beaten January 5)
  • In game clock reads 10:44:49 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Soul Calibur 6  (PS4)

  • 1st session: 4 hours, 7 minutes +6 trophies
  • Status:  carried over to February.  Waiting to get a proper fighting stick for PS4.

Super Life of Pixel (PS4)

  • 1st session:  2 hours, 47 minutes +10 trophies
  • 2nd session:  48 minutes +1 trophy
  • Status:  carried over to February.

‘N Verlore Verstand  (PS4)

  • 1st session:  37 minutes +4 trophies
  • 2nd session:  47 minutes +3 trophies
  • 3rd session:  1 hour, 52 minutes +4 trophies
  • 4th session:  21 minutes
  • 5th session:  1 hour, 52 minutes +3 trophies

  • This game is garbage

…and of course more fucking Destiny 2 than I care to admit 🙄

Returner 77 (iOS)

  • Status:  carried over to February.  Puzzles and environments are cool and they look good for a cheaply priced phone game but it’s nothing new, not burning with originality.  The game didn’t do a whole lot to try to keep my attention beyond leaving me with more questions than answers.
